MVC File Download

I will appreciate if anybody help me on how to download the files from the server folder

when clicked on download actionlink the required file to be downloaded.

asp.net mvc 5

Hi,

So you can check @Manas and @Ravi provided references.They are provided good examples.Put a break point and check what happening inside the download method then only we know the exact error details.
Check your file path.
Check your code properly

Your suggested way only leads me to download one single file.

Please resolve my problem so that I can download file dynamically as shown attachment
I am new....please help, model in attachment.

Hi,

@Manas : In actionlink firstname is display name and second name is method name but in ur given code "DownloadFile" method not present,Are you missed anything buddy :) .

Check this code :

In View page:
@Html.ActionLink("Download", "Download", "Controller")
In controller:
public ActionResult Download()
{
string file = "your filepath";
string contentType = "Mention content type here";
return File(file, controntType, Path.GetFileName(file));
}

Try like below:

In View page:
@Html.ActionLink("Download", "DownloadFile", "Controller")
In controller:
public FileResult DownloadFile()
{
    string filename = "srever path";
    string contentType = "application/pdf";

    return File(filename, contentType, "Report.pdf");
}
