The Model-View-Controller (MVC) is an architectural pattern. The Asp.Net MVC is a lightweight framework. You can see this in the first paragraph of this link as well.

MVC is an architectural pattern.The concept is separation of code in concern.

Please don't say "which developed by Microsoft" and MVC has nothing to do with ASP.NET. MVC is being used in programming languages like SmallTalk since 70s. Ever since it be being used in Objective-C and Java years before Microsoft adopted it. In fact Microsoft came very late on the scene.

Hi Jitendra,

MVC is basically a design pattern used by the developers.It separates Models,Views and controllers .It helps in easy maintainability of code.Microsoft introduced a framework which implements this approach.Please see the below link for more information.

MVC is architectural pattern which developed by Microsoft to separate a web application into three main components: Model View and Controller

Models

Model objects are the parts of the application that implement the logic for the application's data domain.
For example, if the application only reads a dataset and sends it to the view,
the application does not have a physical model layer and associated classes.
In that case, the dataset takes on the role of a model object.

Views

Views are the components that display the application's user interface (UI).

Controllers

Controllers are the components that handle user interaction, work with the model, and ultimately select a view to render that displays UI. It acts like intermediate between View and Model.

Actually Mvc is latest framework of asp.net and its follow own application architecture(model,view,controller) .
Mvc is own design pattern.
