MVC5 and Entity Framework

Entity Framework is like ORM(Object Relation model) Type.

 

Using entity framework we can easily get the relation details with each object.

 

Ex :

 

In a DB we have two tables, Like Department and Student,

 

DepartmentTable

 

ID(PK),DepartmentName

1          BCA

2          MCA

 

 Student Table

ID(PK) StudentName  DepartmentID(FK)

 1         xxxxxxxxxx      1

 2          wwwwww        1

 3         xxxxxxxxx         2

 

You have an scenario like, get the student department name

 

You can achieve this in two ways, first get the student department id using student id in student table, then you can get the department name using student department id in department table.

 

In this case you have to write two queries or need to write stored procedure and all

 

Instead of that , you can use entity framework.

 

its very simple logic here,

 

var DepartmentName=yourEntityName.StudentTable.where(x=>x.ID==1).select(x.DepartmentTable.DepartmentName).SingleorDefault();

 

Here the Depaerment PK has mapped as forign key in student table.. It reduce your all code simple. and the code will be reusable and understanable...
