I am Surya. Intrested in working dotnet. But my colleagues said me that u r suitable for designing. Also my age is 31.. I have nearly 3yrs of experience. On which platform have more growth?

In which area you have exposure of 3 years? Is it .net programming or something else ?

Also, no one can better judge you other than yourself. It is you, who know about your likes and dislikes. You must heard that a Doctor becomes orator or something like this. It is because of their passion and hobbies. Even they were good in that field from which they started their career but later they went into totally different field and become very successful. So, it is not a matter of different field experience. Experience is something that you have earned and learned.

Though it will be like a blank firing without much information of you, I would suggest to think yourself. Where you fit and feel much comfortable ? Then come to the future & money part.

If you feel more comfortable in designing then go for that. It has good opportunity too. But designing is a great art and it comes by virtue and require some practices. It is not like other where you learn and do. If you are fit into it then enhance your skills by learning HTML5, CSS3, jQuery etc. Note, I am looking you as a developer and not a core designer who uses Dreamviewer etc to design the things. If you elaborate more, I/we can better guide you.

As you said, you have learned WCF, Sharepoint etc, your future is also good on this part also. Sharepoint is generating more opportunities and WCF is still rocking as services. You are a good learner, just start participating into forums into your spare time to clear much more on these technologies. Because you see many questions and answers that may not have come into your mind. But, note my advice, never waste your time on internet in searching better and better articles or resources.

Hi surya,

You are in right track. For being a good web developer we should have to be a good knowledge in UI designing. Web site designing is not a eassy task.

I love to work with UI part using Jquery, javascript,Ajax,HTML5,and CSS3. If the web developer is not knowing this client side technology then he is not good web developer.

Actually i have total experience in Dotnet is 2.2 years and in web designing 10 months.. So, due to some project management issues they not took projects on dotnet. For that reason Management is assigned in web designing.. I learned all the dotnet components like WCF, WPF, Silverlight and Sharepoint. I am intrested in programing but designing also interest.
