New HTML Editor Window launched - Beta Version

We have fixed the "Editor Expired" issue.

It is happening to me too. It does not happen when I first start editing; it happens about a minute after an edit begins. It happened while I was writing this; I left the editor open until I got the error but it did happen.

 HTML Editor Expired, error getting continuously.

 I have observed most of the forum related issues occurs due to slow internet connection.

 If the download speed is above .50 mbps approx. then the forum loads faster and gives good responses.


 I still facing above listed problems for slow connection.

While using editor, came across some alignment problem. I taut might due to my browser, so didn't posted here.

We are testing few more editors. Unfortunately, performance can't be tested unless we put them live due to number of users. Let's hope to find a good editor soon. If nothing works, we probably will put old editor back and fix the errors in that. YES, I do like Quick Reply.

Spelling works for me to find the error and fixes it. To make sure to fix it, you need to click "Change" or Change All button. Just OK button will not make the change.

If this stupid editor cannot be made to stop messing with our HTML then it is worse than the previous editor.

I assume that the

 tags are still being eaten. Tabs get eaten too, correct? I tried putting a margin in a 
 and the 
 got eaten. Also, just like other forums, if I use a Character entity such as   (in HTML) then that gets eaten too. I know that some of this is caused by the limitations of HTML but the 
 tag and Character entities are designed to solve many of the limitations.

 Spell check only working for "Quick Reply" not for main editor window.

The spell checker not working, Editor getting hanged when clicked on spell checker. Same for Preview image icon. 
While clicking on color, image icons etc.. the pop up box location is not near to the editor. Sometimes i need to
scroll down the page to locate the popup window. 

Why we need..

• Select all icon --> Crtl + A
• Preview icon -->  this will be good for syntax highlighter.
• spell checker --> this is forums, so i dont think its needed.

By removing some of these, the editor can be lighter.

If its a jquery editor then using with UpdatePanels needed more testing.

Its seems the slow loading happens between 6 pm to morning 5 am India. 

Now its working ok. But the Loading... image still showing.

New Editor is kind of heavy.

yep, very slow. Please include alt tag on the Icon, most of the faces look alike, kinda difficult to distinguish them

The forums (probably the whole site) are either very fast or quite slow. Sometimes the site is instantaneous but then other times it might take a minute for something to happen. I hope the fast responses are an indication of how good things will be most of the time.

YES. I noticed forums are slow. I also noticed, CTRL+K does not work in Firefox.

Using SeaMonkey, I am able to open a Composer window ("Window | Composer" or Ctrl+4) then create a Link then copy and paste that.

Good job!

But i figured something today.

* Since this new HTML Editor improvement,the forums load very late according to the previous one.

* Please add "Add Link" button.As for Sam's advice;Ctrl+K doesnt work in Firefox.

We are still testing our new editor and we are fixing the bugs.

surely we'll  give you an option to insert link and insert div as soon as possible.

I usually use IE 8 and I have not had a problem posting with it. Since I use Seamonkey for email, I usually use it when replying after receiving a notification of a reply to a thread, such as now. Seamonkey is Firefox, correct? It seems to be working for me.

 Couple of the problems got resolved.

•  I done a Windows Update of IE 8, then focus problem got resolved.
•  But still some threads facing focusing the textarea.

1. This same thread, am not able to post a reply from IE8. But its allowing through Google Chrome.

•  No Insert Link option, tip given by SAM works.
•  GetArticles GetThreads method exception occurs might due to slow internet connection or Ajax time out. 

 Am not sure because its still showing Loading...

• Image attach problem still exists
• Insert a table then do Crtl + Z, above error pops up. This happens both in IE and Google Chrome

Yes, the editor is an overall improvement and I agree that it is better to go forward from here instead of backward to the previous one.

Let's look at these problems and see what we can do as soon as possible. I do like this new editor.

The main problem is that undo (Ctrl-Z) was not working for me, but that might be limited to Google Chrome. I thought I tested it with IE and it did not work but now it is working.

Thank you for the fixes, including the problem of line spacing. Now I don't have to use an extra blank line when writing a post.

I really apprecite that Mahesh agrees that removal of the hyperlink creation button is not a good solution for spam. Note however that I usually use Ctrl-K to create a hyperlink and it still works. To use it, just highlight the text you want to be the hyperlink text and press Ctrl-K. So I did that to create this.

The first time I tried Google Chrome today, I got a strange problem where the text for the post was in a square in the editing window, so the text appeared indented by a few inches. The problem was gone from the post when I posted it and I never saw that problem again.

Oh, one problem I am having is that I get prompted to allow pasting into a post from the clipboard. This is a minor problem but I suspect many people will be irritated by it.

Another button that is missing is a button to remove formatting from text. This can be very useful when pasting formatted text.

Oh, I see a major minor problem. It is a minor problem that will result in major grief. There is no button for formatted text (code). So one thing to work on is a way to insert code. It helps to have a special tag for code. One feature that could help a lot is the ability to copy code to the clipboard from a post. The following is a test of formatted ("pre") text. static void Main() { Application.EnableVisualStyles(); Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false); Application.Run(new Form1()); }As you can see, the pre tag does not work the way it is supposed to. The HTML definition of the pre tag is to show the text in the format it exists in in the HTML, espcially withthe line breaks. The error with the pre tag is a major complaint with the editor. Apparently the problem is that the editor re-formats the text so the formatting is lost. I assume it will still work to put a br tag after each line but it will really help to get the pre tag working.

Edit: The idiot editor is removing the pre tag! That is not good.

I will post any problems I noticed. I am using Firefox and IE 9 Beta.

I think we still need Hyperlink button. If users are posting junk links, we can avoid that buy warning, blocking, and other ways. But I use Hyperlink button all the time.

        Ok, you meant to say, everything working fine at your end.

        Am giving this reply through Google Chrome now, not getting the cursor focused in editor
        while replying when using IE 8.

        All the listed points not working at my end.

        Am not testing anymore, let see if more members facing any problems.

We have removed the link option because some user was putting junk link.

and the points you have mentioned, I have checked in my IE8 Browser but i am not able to produce that. It's working fine.
