You are correct as i had a discussion with one of the recruiter and he told more than 70% openings in Asp.net is coming for mvc .Web Forms are still being used but most of the  companies are migrating their old applications to mvc. Start learning MVC through online tutorials and for doubts you can post those in communities here.
