Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Hi all,

when i run an web app i get the following error message in the connection string are: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.The Below code is i am using

string connectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["I PUT MY CONNECTION STRING IS HERE"].ConnectionString;

Can Any one try to hep me.

The key("I PUT MY CONNECTION STRING IS HERE") is not present in your config file so you are getting object reference issue. Try with below code:

Add below code web.config or app.config
<configuration>
   <connectionStrings>
      <add name="MyConnection" connectionString="Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=MyDB;Integrated Security=True"/>
   connectionStrings>
configuration>
Add following code to get value from config file..
string connectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["MyConnection"].ConnectionString;

Hi,

Do you put the complete "Connection String" inside the [] or just the key name in which it is mentioned in you config file?
I hope you are aware that the code that you are using is to get the connection string from the config file(web.config or app.config)
Do let me know the approach that you are using, it would be then easy to identify the error.
