Open an image is synchronous operation?

Hi all.
I have one problem in my project. I open some bitmap with the instruction new Bitmap().
I would like to know if this operation is synchronous or asynchronous. I think the second because there are some problem in the application when it run.

new Bitmap() is synchronous, but it does not laod a bitmap nor does it create an image; it just creates an istance of the class in which you can load an image into it or create an image somehow.

I have resolve the problem in another way.
