Publishing in Visual Studio 2003

OK, not quite a VS 2005 question here but this is the closest forum I could find.

I know that in VS2005 you just go to the Debug menu and there is a "publish" option. Apparently it's much more complicated than that in 2003 but is there anywhere online I can find out how to do it? I have tried just copying the directory into the htdocs folder for my website using FTP but this doesn't work at all....
