Hi,SQL Server is best for back end the application with c# window/WebApplication. It is more security for you application.

If its going to be standalone i.e. going to be used by small set of user (1-10) than i suggest you go for windowsform or wpf application.

But if there are going to be more users more than 10 than I suggest you go for web application using latest MVC + Ajax and you backend server is going to be IIS.

If you want your code deployement easy and at one palce only than i strongly suggest Web Application.

If your application is going to behave like sevice than I suggest make use of WebAPI , that can used to build service for you. WebApi is REST with full use of HTTPProtocol and meant for mobile devices. and consume that service in your frondend which may be simple html or MVC.

As you are going with .Net framework For dataStore you can go for SQL SEver so you can take advatage of it easily by using EntityFramewrok.
