Resolve the Type of an unknown object with a string of the type name.

is there something available in c# for resolving a string to a type? I For instance, if I want to pass an object to another class instance that could be one of a hundred class types, it would be nice to pass the object and also a string that is the name of the type and then resolve the type afterwards. For example: Any ideas or any other way of doing this?

Thanks! I had no idea that method was there. so, If I can get the type, how do I feed that back in to call a method on that object? Is there any syntaz that works for that? Below I'm assuming that of the 50 possible object I get they all have a comman method. The example below doesn't work however. public void mymethod(object obj) { string someData = ( obj.GetType() )obj.callSomeMethodThatReturnsAString(); }

public void mymethod(object o) { Console.WriteLine(o.GetType().ToString()); } This will get you the string name of the class.
