Are you asking how to test the application and then when it is working you don't need to use what you are asking about or do you want to know what you can use in your application to be sure that each message is sent?

If you want to test the application, then one way is to send a message to the same address that the message is being sent from.

If you want to ensure that each message is sent, then I really think you cannot, except if the mail server says it woked then it should have worked. I really think there is nothing else available to check if a message got received by the server; if the server says it worked when the message was transferred to it, then there is not much you can do to ensure that it got sent.

If there is a problem with the message, then a mail server might send an error message to the sender, but that would be received as an email message.

Perhaps you are thinking of something called a receipt. That is something that gets sent when a message is recieved by the recipient, so it would be sent hours or days or even months later. Many people don't like sending receipts, so even if your outgoing message requests a receipt, you cannot be sure whether the message is received.
