Search textbox value in database and show it in another page

Hi friends

im working on online result system

there is one problem occurs

i want

when student enter his seat no and click on submit button

then there is process check this seat no in database if it present in dbs then there can be show in another page with the value of student name exam year and his result with respect to that seat no exam year

Store this result in session and use it in another page

There is Show in format of
Some fields are in label and some fields are in Gridview

In your Page1 you can do like this at Button Click event:

protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
         Response.Redirect(string.Format("Page2.aspx?SNO={0}",TextBoxSearch.Text.Trim()));
}

The code above passes the value of Seat No that was supplied from your TextBox. Now on Page2 you can use the value of the querystring and query your database like:

                  using(SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(sql,connection)){

You can send multiple variable using qyery string or you set all value in single session with seperator after gone that page u can find the value using serperatore.
Like..

string info= seatname+"/"+ seatnumber +"/"+ exam+"/"+subject+"/"+id
session["info"]=info;

after gone that page u can find out like that

string ss=convert.ToString(session["info"]);

string[] words = ss.Split(' /');
use can fetch index wise..

words[]index1]= seatnmae
words[index2]=seatnumber
words[index3]=exam
words[index4]= subject
words[]index5]=id

And you can get also very easier using query string

can u give me detailed idea for this code
Bcoz i want to show result in the form of

Name
Seat No
Exam year
Semister no
And All subjects marks
Status(Pass/Fail)

There is Result master tabel contains value are
Seat no,exam year,subject id,semister id,result,status

Here's what I would suggest.

In your first page, query your database and get the ID of the result. Then use this ID in your next page. You could use a QueryString to pass the value of ID to the next page.

Now in the next page to where you display the results, use that ID from the querystring to query the detail information such as the student name and exam year. You could query your database on page load event.

There is no problem when u are searching in your database if it found then kept it in session variable or kept it in url like.

Session["seat"]= database serach result;
session values u can use every page

Or
integer seatno = database serach result

Response.Redirect("yourpage.aspx?seat_id=" &seatno & ");
