I have one textbox and search button. I want to search for multiple numbers separated by commas in textbox from database in asp .net.

List nums = textBox1.Text.Split(',')
.Select(i =>
{
int val;
return int.TryParse(i, out val) ? (int?)val : null;
})
.Where(i => i.HasValue)
.Cast()
.ToList()

The above code code gives the list of integers and the linq to get the records will be:

IEnumerable<DataRow> matchingRows
= from DataRow row in table.Rows
where nums.Contains((int)row[0]) select row;

Try this code:

List ids = textBox.Text.Split(',').ToList();

IEnumerable<DataRow> matchingRows
= from DataRow row in table.Rows
where ids.Contains(row[0]) select row;

I can give u code, Once again lemme ask u the requirement.

u have a textbox having a text that have values separated by comma.
U need to get the row from the datatable that have a particular column value as any of the number in the comma separated list.

If u provide me code i can check for that i have done corecct or not. same i have done but linq dont know using sql query i have done using like operator. So please give me code its urgent. Many many thanks for reply.

hi Shradha,

There are different ways u can do this:

1. The textbox text can be assigned to a variable and use Split to create an array for the values.
and loop thru values when u query.

2. at the database level u can take the text as a single parameter and the check for the values in the query.

3. U can bring the records in a dataset and use linq to filter values.

I'm not actually giving the code, just to involve your part of effort.
But lemme know if u need the code for any I can provide.
