Sign in and log in with using database in xamarin.forms

Hi AjithKumar,

You can't directly access the database through Xamarin.Forms, for the connectivity to the database you have to create a Web API or you can also use WCF services for this but we prefer Web API as it is based on REST principle and consume that in your project. I am sharing the code which you have to write in your Xamarin.Form project which hits the Web API method and validate the user details. And may be this will help you out.

Calling Web API method

public void LoginDetail(User model)
{
try
{
using (ApiHandler api = new ApiHandler())
{
var json = Newtonsoft.Json.JsonConvert.SerializeObject(model);
var httpContent = new StringContent(json, System.Text.Encoding.UTF8, "application/json");
var response = api.PostAsync("api/UserDetail", httpContent).Result;//getting the user detail
var jsonResult = response.Content.ReadAsStringAsync().Result;
if (response.IsSuccessStatusCode)
{
userID = (int)Newtonsoft.Json.JsonConvert.DeserializeObject(jsonResult, typeof(int));
if (userID != 0)
{
Settings.LoggedInUserID = userID.ToString(); //store user id in mobile cache
Navigation.PushAsync(new MainPage());
}
}
}
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
throw;
}
}

APIHandler class code

public class ApiHandler : HttpClient
{
public ApiHandler()
{
string baseAddress = ""; // Put your Web API address here and use your machine IP instead of using localhost.
BaseAddress = new Uri(baseAddress);
}
}

And please, publish your Web API on local IIS server.

Setting class code, which is used to store the User ID in a mobile cache. And for this, you also have to install a package from Nuget Packages i.e., Xam.Plugins.Settings.

public static class Settings
{
private static ISettings AppSettings
{
get
{
return CrossSettings.Current;
}
}
#region Setting Constants
private const string UserID = "userid_key";
private static readonly string SettingsDefault = string.Empty;
#endregion
public static string LoggedInUserID
{
get
{
return AppSettings.GetValueOrDefault(UserID, SettingsDefault);
}
set
{
AppSettings.AddOrUpdateValue(UserID, value);
}
}
}

Thanks
