Slow Data Access in web services

Question

hi, I have a web service which is installed on database server. I use this service to access a table in oracle 8i / ms sql2000 database which has 29000 records. I fill the records in a dataset which i send it to my client calling form. I have attached the data grid to dataset and display it to user. Now my problem is that it takes 30 seconds to access the data through web services. Can any one help me in reducing the time. It is urgent.
