It is not necessary to create tired application and also every application has minimum two tired (presentation and data processing). Number of tire in architecture is inversely proportional to performance. I think for any application 3 tire enough. Any multi-tier architecture is a client–server architecture in which presentation, application processing, and data management functions are logically separated.
