Some Confusions About Web Service And WCF

Hi Every Body,

I am studying about web service and i have some questions about web service

1.Can we perform DML(mean update data , create, delete ) using web service, if yes then how it is possible ? if not why ?

2.Can we use web service instead of WCF if yes then what is the difference b/w web service and WCF.

can any body clear my these questions.
