Standalone web service

I want to create a standalone web service (running on a choose port) that doesn't require IIS. What's the best method? Which libraries should I use? I've heard of Indigo, but I don't know much about it. Any suggestions? Thanks

I, personally, would just write a TCP server, that ran functions based on commands it was passed over a TCP/IP connection. This actually isn't that hard, but the trick is establishing a standard way of communicating, and how to take turns exchanging data.

If you want me to write you an example, just post back, and I'de be glad to.
