Suggest an Idea

I guess you guys are talking about Forums Home page? So this is just a matter of showing the thread category. So, I am almost done with the new design of the site (Home page, article page, category, blogs etc). Only couple of more pages left but once done, I will focus on forums design/usability. This time we are taking our time, doing lots of reserach before finaliing a layout.

We are planning to put new pages live (at least home page) this Friday and Category and Article Pages this coming week. These will be live on our Test server and you guys will get an email from me.

The problem of not seeing what forum that a question is in is not much of a problem currently since we can do as Suthish suggests, but I hope the new software will have a solution to the problem since it will be more of a problem if the activity of the forums increase. In other words, if there are many more threads, then it will be more of an inconvenience to look at each thread first before deciding whether we want to look at the thread.

in the latest questions tab on the front page where all the questions are displayed and also in unanswered section. so looking at the question we can decide if we want to look into the question, like JAVA i might not be able to answer but since the question just says "What is wrong in this code or just cannot decrypt". If there is an indicator like asp.net, C# i would target those first rather than going through all the unanswered questions. Also the page navigation does not work for unanswered or latest questions, for ex: if i click on a latest question and click on next button it will go to the next question in that category and not the latest questions.

[EDIT]: unanswered question has dropdown filter so that is fine.

Where do you need the indicator? We have a breadcrumb at the top shows what category this question belong to.

no id didn't get fixed i think. if you update it just shows the city or country name what's there in that. if the place name is not available then it shouldn't even show from
then we can think that it's fixed. still i see some users info with out place but still shows from.

No never try to blame them, there might be any kind of user which can join this site right. some of them may not like to reveal their place so it should be taken care at the coding side itself. May be after rebuilding i will check for this whether this bug solved or not as i pointed it out.

People can always go ahead and post an idea so we have them in the list.

simple example is suthish nair and sam hobbs.
if you compare between these guys info we can get it. where suthish nair didn't give the place where as sam informed about his place.

i have something to say, may not be improvement but definitely it's a small bug i think.
if someone posts something in this site, it generally displays as follows:

Name
posted xxx posts
member since date
from
place
and the ranking

even though the user doesn't select or write from the place he is it just shows as follows:


Name
posted xxx posts
member since date
from
and the ranking

where "from" is not required i guess. if the user leaves place as empty don't write from that's it.
may be small if statement would do the job.
