Carlos kambui

i have a student table with adm_no field ,on registration i want student label to be set to 0 after admiting a student it Add by 1 when registering the second student to pick the last adm_no and add by 1 ........No idea on how to do it proud of your answers

intitailly retrieve the last record Id.
If it is in integer(id):

sqlcommand cmd=new sqlcommand("select max(id) from student",con);
int maxid= (int)cmd.ExecuteScalar();

maxid=maxid+1; //this maxid is needs to be inserted as id.

Command.CommandText = "INSERT INTO students (adm_no,first_name,last_name,sir_name,id_no,dob,Sex, date_admision ,comment, branch_id,image,class_id )VALUES (@adm_no,@first_name,@last_name,@sir_name,@id_no,@dob,@Sex,@date_admision,

command.parameters.addwithvalue("@adm_no",maxid) ;

Your's:

tStudent.student_id = 0;
a = 10;
a = a + 1;
tStudent.adm_no =Convert.ToInt32 (txtadm.Text = a.ToString());
tStudent.sir_name = txtsirname.Text;
Modified one:

int a=10;
a=a+1;
tStudent.adm_no=a.ToString();
tStudent.sir_name = txtsirname.Text;

Hai Carlos kambui,

use this command:

-->select count(*) from student;

It provides the total number of records.
For Ex: 10

Then in your code add
a=10;
a=a+1;
ablcount.Text=a.ToString();

get total count and add 1.

like
int totalcount=0;
totalcount=totalcount+1;
lblTest.Text=Convert.ToString(totalcount );
