The 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' provider is not registered on the local machine

Prabhu, OLEDB is not ODBC. ODBC is about 19 years old. OLEDB is newer than that. ODBC is used like an API (Microsoft calls it "a C programming-language interface") and OLEDB (also called OLE DB, OLE-DB and OLE/DB) is used using OLE. For anyone unfamiliar with "Object Linking and Embedding" (OLE) it is an early version of COM.

Microsoft had stated that database software such as OLEDB and ODBC would not be available for 64-bit Windows but they seem to have givven in to pressure from it's customers. So 64-bit versions are supposedly available but as far as I know they must be installed separately.

Hi Praveen, The Jet OLEDB Driver is ODBC Driver. So, You need not install Anything, it will come with Windows by default. I think the problem with your OS. You may be using Different Windows Version like 32 bit and 64 bit.  Click the link, it may help you.

iam running application on x86. I have also change it to x86 platform.
But same error has been occuring.
