Hello guys, To get data from backend to show in UI which way will be fine Either using entity Framework or a developing rest service? Please suggest

entity framework is not a SQL driver, it is an ORM that uses many SQL drivers based on the database server you want to use the service you mention can access the DB via SQL driver, via entity framework, via any other ORM

Kindly, understand the difference between Entity framework & REST Web API first.Entity Framework and REST Web API development are two different things.

Know that entity framework is used to access data from database as it provides all the necessary classes, and methods according to your database and depend on your EF approach to access data from the data server like SQL server or MySQL.

REST Web API however, is not a data access layer, it can not directly access data from the database but can utilize EF within its logic to get require data. REST Web API main purpose is to access results without any dependancy of platform e.g. if you have written code logic in PHP and want to access its results using .NET platform then REST Web API is a way to go.

Similary, Desktop Software(s) and IoT devices e.g. mobile devices, vanding machines etc can not directly access data results from the web server, for that matter REST Web API or SOAP Web API is developed to make desirable results available to the target machine over the internet.

@Sachin well said, When i joined a company as SE, they didn't gave me training, seniors not helped me, no internet system provided by company. Luckly i found C#Corner and KUD Venkat youtube stuffs through my mobile internet. one year i have gone through C#Corner and KUD Venkat videos then i realised "Even i have met this kind of programmers at 2011 only" those who was used wrong architectures, pattern and technology without thinking about future software technologies

This is what i say over doing , always try to use the things which are really needed. I have seen many programmers who create N-Tier architecture, Web API even for a small project and in this way they satisfy their ego of being called a big programmer , but for me they are damn fool.

If the project is small then don't even think about architecture and design pattern just start and finish and submit to the client , infact the client just need a well working software they won't see how you created them.

Second if you have no plan for mobile/ desktop version they why will you create API , it would be a complete waste of time.
If you are creating an enterpise app which will goint to take years to complete then architecture , design mattern and api becomes must. otherwise you will be lost over a period of time.

EF is powerful but your question is mixed up. Using EF does not mean you can't create a REST service you can still create a REST service that accesses the DB via EF if is what you need/prefer that's up to you

Didn't think much about the service implementation, thinking only from application point of view I think service with entity Framework will be a good approach I believe We are using SQL server as a dB

Service will connect to db. Application will call service to show data in UI

even if you write a REST service, how is this going to access the database? you can use EF as ORM or you can use a basic SQL driver with manually wrote queries both solutions can be used in both "direct access" or REST service

you are comparing two completely different things
you can use Entity Framework directly in your project to get data from database or you can create API , there also you will need EF to communicate to database.

It depends on , if your developing different versions of application like web, desktop and mobile then creating a web api is a must so that you don't need to write the same logic in three different applications, all your application may use the same API .

but if you are creating a web application and you have no planning to create a mobile/desktop app then why will you create an api , simply use EF in project and done.
