Updation of exe on netwrok PC

Dear all,

I have developed windows application using .net framework 2.0 & sql 2005 as backend.

This application is installed on network PC'. Only one PC has sql server 2005 installed & all netwotk pc's are accessing that PC.

My issue:
When there is some change in application the i have to go on every pc & update the exe.

Is there is any simple way, If i have update the exe at server PC then automatically network pc's exe should be updated.
Or
there is something some popup should be come on network pc's that new version of software is come. Plz upgrade ur software.

Is it possible, Plz give some suggestion.

What Microsoft have tried to do with ClickOnce is to make it as easy to deploy a desktop application as it is to deploy a web application.

All the user needs to do to install your application is to click a link in a web page and the application is downloaded to his/her machine. It's also possible to run applications 'online' i.e. without them being permanently installed on the user's machine.

One drawback is that if you are using .NET 2.0 the user has to have Internet Explorer. The latest versions of .NET support FireFox as well.

However, ClickOnce application are not limited to web deployment and can be deployed in two other ways:

1. From a network file share.

2. From a CD-ROM, DVD-ROM etc.

Also ClickOnce applications don't need administrator privileges to deploy and are isolated from each other. This avoids versioning conflicts and, if one application fails, it will not affect the others.

As we've already seen, automatic updating of applications is also supported.

So, it seems to me that it's just what you want for your application :)

Iam not using ClickOnce to deploy my appln. But can u explain more abt Clickonce deployment. I have read about Clickonce on google. But can it be more useful for my software.

Now iam copying exe on every each network PC. which very time consuming & headache job.

Plz give some more suggestion.

If you're using ClickOnce to deploy your application, then there are facilities for automatic updates.
