uploading word documents to database

Question

hi firnds, i am developing windows application in c#,in that i need to upload resume to database...whole part of document should be saved in one table and m i need to save"carrer ojective" in my resume to separate table in my database...can uanyone put your valuable ideas here??

I just built a system that does something very similar. After a lot of research and discussion, I decided not to save the documents to the database. Instead, I save the documents to a file server, and I store the addresses in the database. In the database, I have a table where I store the document ID, document name, document description, file format, upload date, file name and file owner ID. The data access layer takes the uploaded file and saves it to the file server and then updates the database. I have methods to retrieve document by document ID or by document owner. Everything is working well. There are good arguments to be made for putting the documents in the database or putting them in a file server. It partly depends on how well your database supports this. Some databases have poor performance handling large numbers of files. If you put your files on a server, it allows people to bypass the database and retrieve documents manually. That may be an advantage for you, or that might be a security issue, depending on your needs.
