Bug:

Posted two New's, just now. But the time showing incorrect in Recent Activity Section.

  But the comment count showing as zero. I have to refresh the page again to get the count.


 

Ya suthish mee to recieves the messages without comments an when I';m clicking on link there is not any comment on that article.

 The developer team going to kick me.

 Another small bug found while on Video Section...

 While viewing the latest video posted by Mahesh, I clicked on Technologies Menu..

 Refer the image, half the menu is not showing... Going under video player.

 
 

  I think the focus is still on Video player...

  Try to put a "onmouseover" javascript event on menu control, might solve the bug...

 e.g:  onmouseover='this.focus'

@Suthish, good suggestion about sorting. I like the idea.
@Vulpes, yes we will work on improving the editor and try to block as much as spam we can. We do have this system right now in place we can remove all user posts and block that user. We have noticed, after first day spams, spammers don't come back. 

 

Suggestion...

The sorting and ordering (Orientation) of Technologies menu list is showing in Horizontal mode.

Can be this in Vertical, so would be easy to read and find the names from list.

 Why my profile picture got deleted? 

 I updated a new profile picture last week, but now it got rolled back to old picture.

 Is it a bug, or deleted?

When you get around to overhauling the forums, some form of automatic spam detection would be nice. 

As I write this, there are 8 spam threads to be deleted.

I got another "reply can't be blank!" just now so my reply got lost.

Yes I know about the cache optimization. Yes I did see a Java article appear yesterday.

@ Sam, I know what error are you talking about. This is just Editor and Admin problem only :). But I see Java articles on the home page now. The way Article refreshing works now is, instead of doing a page refresh on every visit, we are pulling latest activity every 5 minutes. So if you just approved an article, it will appear after 5 minutes. 

@Vulpes, so forums, job board, and Editors are next big things we are working on. Editor might take some time. We are building a really smart editor and that will help Sam, I and our other editors make their lives easier. I do not have a release date on it yet. 

@Abhi, yes we are working on so both Forums and Site will have just one profile page. About Karthik's profile, by default activity is set to Last 5 months. May be all he has in 5 months is what you see. 

(i) I got a new bug in "Community Activity" graph. I captured this image from "Karthik's" profile. I guess he is mostly active in writing articles but graph is showing Forum and News activities only. Please have a look at this bug.


(ii) I can't see any option to change Forum Image (like my picture here and profile picture), we should place this option on profile page. Even we should merge the both section images to make it single. Maybe team is still working on Forum section, as i can see no updates here.

I think Java articles are not appearing in the RECENT ACTIVITY in the home page. I think there was one yesterday that never appeared and there are two today that are not there that should be.

There's also a problem (probably to do with V12) on VB.Net Heaven's forums.

Currently, the 'Latest Questions' tab is reporting that there are no unanswered questions. 

However, the top four items in the 'Recently Updated' tab are all recently asked but unanswered questions.

I tried to edit my previous reply and I am unable to. When I click on Update I get a page saying there was an error. This is relatively normal; I often get a page saying there was an error but then whatever I did is done anyway. In this case, the updates were not applied, so there was a real error.

Something else that is probably limited only to members that are editors, the last article that I edited is not showing in the home page. All the others are in the home page but not Optimize Media Streaming on a Network in Windows 8 so if Arun Choudhary is looking for his article then that is what happened to it. That might be the same bug that existed in the old version. Also, there might be an explanation for why it is not showing; it might not be a bug. If it is a bug that causes the article to not show in the home page then that does of course affect all members.

I am still having some problems I was having in the previous version.

The first probably does not concern most members but it might be a symptom of a problem that affects others. I occasionally lose the editor's icons. I am signed in but the editing icons do not show. For those members that do not know what editing icons are, they are only for editors. If however there are any features that you normally have but sometmes lose, then that might be something you need to report. In my case, I got the icons back after logging out and then back in. So this is a bg that existed in the previous version that presists in this version.

When I sign out, I get a page saying I amsigned out. Then when I sign in again, the page still shows saying I am signed out. That is how the old software worked but I think it should be fixed so that when the page says I have been logged out, the page should be changed to something else.

Something that does affect many members is that when I sign in, my userid is not retained; I need to type in my userid every time. That is a minor inconvenience but I think it is worth fixing. Browsers have an auto-complete feature for text boxes in web pages but there is something about the C# Corner userid login box that prevents that from being used by IE. Something else that would really help is to allow Windows to retain the password, in the manner that most sites do. Perhaps you do not want to allow it for security reasons but it would be a useful feature if it is acceptable. If the password were retained so that I do not need to enter it frequently in my system then I could make my password more secure, thereby increasing security.

Great feedback Senthil, Sam, and Suthish. I do agree, there needs to be a documentation. I also have some bugs in my list and we have some testers also testing the website. So there will be bug fixing for next couple of weeks.

So, I am thinking to create bunch of videos that talks about new features on the website and how to use them. However, most of them are self explanatory for our existing users. 

Yes, this is a huge accomplishment. We are past a big hurdle. It is my understanding that this version of the site has been under development for more than a year.

I agree with Senthilkumar. Software needs documentation. I do not know what the documentation of this software looks like. My advice would be to write the specifications in a manner that describers how the system works, then that would easily be re-written as user documentation. Programmers often avoid documentation; well at least somewhat. Management does not like to waste time on documenation. Yet documentaion is good.

Which explains why I am so frustrated when members write vague questions. It would help developers to know how to describe what they are doing, and that is not a language issue.

It has the greater visibility of some of the sections and it adds more values to the contributors as well.

Yes, there are minor issues here and there. But that will not stop you to do the normal process in this site the contributors and users.

What i noticed one thing here! You have launched the new version of this site but i have not seen anywhere about some documentation/guide which talks about what this version has.

Every one knows something but not knows many thing. I believe that great challenge in our field. Simple mantra will be "If you know then teach, if you do not know then learn". What i would like to ask you is please give us high level about technologies used here. Like Metro, Cloud, etc..,

Issues I found:
- Image  not loading several places.
- I have written 35 articles, it should be 700 points for articles score.But here it shows 600.
- I have scored more than 500, it should shown as "Silver member" but it shows "Bronze"
- Look at the screen shot of "Abhimenyu", the text knowledge has some spelling mistake

It will be better if we make some changes in forum part. Becoz when we are on home page it's look totally new but when we moves to forum then it is same like existing.
