Want to connect to MySQL database over network

I've developed a program with a friend using Visual C# that connects to a MySQL database. This program works on one machine fine. We now want to be able to install the program on another machine but it connect to the database on the first machine but we're not sure how to do thins. Does anyone know any good tutorials where we can learn how to do this or are able to explain what we need to do?

Good to know that you have fixed it; I am sorry I was not able to help further.

I am not sure whether you need to install "MySQL Connector Net" separately. My guess is that if you use Visual Studio to create a setup for your application, then it will install whatever your application needs. You can read about "deployment" in the documentattion; that is the term Microsoft usually uses for doing setups/installs of our software.

Sorry about the lack of info. I'm using MySQL Connector Net 6.2.2 which I guess not everybody uses. The problem I had was because the examples I'd previouly seen all used 'localhost' as the server value and there was no mention of a port value so I'd just replaced 'localhost' with the socket value. Finally found the answer on another forum where someone was having a similer issue. What I should have been doing was using the IP address as the server value and then adding the port....

Basicly I was doing this...
MySqlConnection con = new MySqlConnection("Server=192.168.1.4:3306;Database=****;Uid=root;Pwd=****;");

When I should have been doing this...
MySqlConnection con = new MySqlConnection("Server=192.168.1.4;port=3306;Database=****;Uid=root;Pwd=****;");

Sucks to be a n00b.

P.S. Am I correct in thinking I need to install "MySQL Connector Net 6.2.2" on all the PC's I want to run my app? The PC's I'm currently using to test my program over the network already have it on.

Have you looked at all the articles about MySQL listed in "Our recommended articles" at the right side of this window? Have you looked for other articles in this web site?

You don't specify the details of "connects to a MySQL database" so it is difficult for anyone to provide specific answers. Are you using a bound data source? Are you using ADO?
