Warning: I lost a post

I typed a reply and then got distracted a few minutes and then finished the reply and clicled the Post button and then I looked around at something else and then when I looked back I saw a message saying that at post cannot be blank and everything I had typed was gone. I am not sure what happened but there might be a problem with the forum software. To avoid possible loss of data, copy your post to the clipboard before posting then wait and ensure that it is successful. If the problem happens to you then post here.

Yes, I get the same error when I click on the link to the original thread in the e-mail.

Whilst I knew that the OP could close the thread to new replies, I didn't realize he could delete it altogether.

That's almost certainly the explanation here then :)

I still have the forum index page with it in the index and when I open that thread I get a page that says "Error on page, try again". I see that error occasionally but usually only for threads I have never looked at.

The only way one thread will disappear is if somebody (original owner, editor or admin) deletes the thread.

I don't know whether anyone else has noticed but now a whole thread has disappeared!!

There was a thread today called "Read and Parse a DAT file".

Someone had replied asking for clarification whether a C# solution was needed which the OP gave.

I then replied to it and Sam replied after me (I received e-mail confirmation) but now it's disappeared altogether :-/

Hi Mahesh,

This is news(obviously great) that you've started the product to be on .Net 4.0. It's been about 2 years i'm using this website and i have seen really appreciable changes in the site like Management of content, Speed, reduced postbacks and the best one is the enhanced mails we received for the activities belongs to us.

Well I'll really feel great if anything we can contribute to the new release. :)) and I really feel good to be a part of c-sharpcorner in any way.

You can consider the suggestion for the new version. I understand that you expect it to be perfect and therefore you don't need to plan for failure but you know things happen.

I think new version of software will solve this problem. We will not use state server to expire the session. That should fix the problem.

Keep in mind, we are rebuilding the whole software in .NET 4.0. Totally redone. Once I have something ready, I will share with the guys here.

I was thinking to stop fixing minor problems and rebuild the whole thing in .NET 4.0. This is a typical problem in a large project. At some point, you have to freeze the code and any new changes otherwise you never start the new version ;).

I know I don't want to have to fix the problem. I hope extra bandwidth does not cost too much.

Is there any way that the forum software could automatically keep a copy of a post in the local system (my system for posts I submit)? I know it would be a little complicated to implement since it would have to clean itself and there would have to be a UI for it. It is however something I have thought of for other forums before I knew about C# Corner.

From time to time, we see a lot of traffic and state server resets itself to cleanup old sessions. That may cause this problem. Now traffic is growing, we are looking into serious servers. This week I will be talking to MaximumASP about getting more resources and bandwidth. I am also looking into load balancing and other options.

I hope I was wrong and I hope the problem was caused by something I did wrong. If however it is a problem, then I thought it is best to at least warn people, so I created this thread to do that.

Hi Sam,

I have also faced this problem 3-4 times then i decided to either place reply it on clipboard on in some other temp doc before pressing the "Post" button.
