what is and how can be used: XSL & XSLT

Hi, Could anyone explain to me what is XSL and XSLT technology all about? How can it be used? If you could give me some examples... Thanks Adisor

abdullah_02's reply is a bit inaccurate. XSL will NOT control how XML is displayed. Neither the change to HTML is necessarily done runtime. You can use XSLT to transform an XML document into another format. The most obvious target is HMTL. But it can be used to transform it to different type of XML. Say, your company has defined an XML schema for internal workings nad your partner has defined their own: you can use XSLT to transform between these two XML schemas! Using XSL-FO (Formatting Objects) you can produce PDF files!

Hi.... That is right, it is somehow like css and html .....the CSS file will control the look of the html and XSL will control the XML file......... if you read a data from a relational Database by XML....then you need to view this data on the web so, you need to change it to html in order to view it.... Note : the change to HTML is done at run time.......

Hi, Sorry about the late replies. I was away for some internal training. :) Okay, when people refer xsl, they means extensible translation. Well just like you have a xml file, you want to translate it into html or excel or whatever! Example, it is like to xml -> html -> xml! When you perform translation, the markup is save under *.xslt!
