What is the future of C# in near future?

After a decade of strong growth, the popularity of C# may now have peaked thanks to mixed messages coming out of Microsoft with whose future it is intimately bound.

However, I still think that the language is so good (easily the best multi-purpose programming language out there) that it must make sense to learn it professionally if you intend to develop for the various Microsoft platforms.
