GO seems to be growing pretty fast. Google has developed it that means, It's probably going to be pretty popular in coming years. @Sanwar, please post answers not just links. By posting too many links on the site, Google degrades the page ranking.

The purpose of an answer wiki is not to say something against the current consensus (as below). The consensus thus far is that Go is particularly useful for server-side web development, although it is generally not the best in other areas. That said, learning a new language never hurts. I recommend Python: ease to learn syntax, huge community, rich mature 3rd party libraries to cover any possible use case (from UI to web, data and system's integration, scientific computing, ... etc). With GO you will have to make a lot of functionality yourself - often porting from other languages such python, java, php etc... GO as many programming technics implemented very differently than in any other object oriented language. But once you start to understand programming concepts - best reading someone else code, then it would be much easier to learn Go, or any other static / lower level language you might need for a specific purpose.
