what is the meaning of publish

Accepted answer

Both of the words "publish" and "deploy" are fancy words for creating a setup for installing software. The term publish implies to me the process of making the setup but I assume that publish does not include running it anywhere. It is like a book publisher that makes books but the books are read by customers.

If you want deploy your web application into IIS , you need to publish your application. While publishing you web app, it will emit the dll and aspx pages,config etc which ever is required to run the application.

Once you published your application, create a new web site in IIS and map the published folder.
