.Net Core was launched in June 2016, the industry takes time to digest a new technology and moves slowly, so even after the launch of .Net Core, the preferred technology was MVC (.Net Framework) till 2018, but now all new development is being done with .Net core.

The core is platform-independent, which means don't depend on IIS or Windows.
