When to use serialization in .net??

There is one way which you may have encountered where serialization happens, but without you knowing it.

 

while working with sessions in asp.net, if you want to store an object in session and you are storing your session state in either sql server or state server then you need to mark your class with Serializable attribute, otherwise the object cannot be stored in session. that's a practical use of serialization I can think of.
