Which Books(C# and ASP.Net) is best for Beginner

For learning the C# language (but not its applications such as ASP.Net), I've always thought that this is a good beginner's book (http://www.amazon.com/3-0-Beginners-Guide-Herbert-Schildt/dp/0071588302/ref=dp_ob_title_bk) because the author, Herb Schildt, has been writing books about C, C++, C#  and Java for many years.

The only drawback is that it doesn't cover the latest version C# 4.0 though the new stuff is easily learnt from other sources.
