which one used for connect to the data base in asp.net

Hi..friends..

i have one doubted in real project connect to the Database(sql Server) mostly following which one technique used in asp.net project and MVC real time project .

please give me your valueable comment ,suggest.

1) ADO.NET(with Query and Store procedure)

2)Linq To SQL

3) Enity framework(Code first Approach,Data first Approach and Model first Approach)

Go with EF, sinceEF is build top on ADO.Net.It alsodecrease the learning curve.

Linq to SQL is an obsolete technology, so you should n't think about that. Remaining ADO.NET vs EntityFramework:

Performance:
EntityFramework built on top of ADO.NET, so it can't faster than ADO.NET. Because the EF loads whole database metadata into memory, it degrades performance as compared to ADO.NET

Maintainability:
EF wins on maintainability over ADO.NET because it has proper database mapping.

Faster Development:
In this point again EF wins over ADO.NET
You shouldn't consider using an ORM is when you're doing a reporting/dashboard type application where you aren't doing any updating, or when you're creating an application just to do raw data maintenance operations on a database.

Lastly, you can use both ADO.NET and EntityFramework in one application. The fact is you need to choose when to use to create better application.
