Well said Anil Kumar :) .Net is ahead than Java.

Considering my past experience with Java, I would say .Net is far better.  Taking C#.Net advantages will be LINQ, Lambda, Plus .Net multiple language support, Better UI Development through Visual Studio, WCF advantages of Web Services, SOAP, IDE Integrated ORM etc.

Again, Java was sold to Oracle.. In stock market terms a company is sold when it loses hope in itself.  If it thinks in future there is more earnings possible.. it will somehow take debt & run the company.  Surely, Microsoft core innovators Bill Gates & Anders Hejlsberg (Chief Architect) done a great job in bringing High Quality to .Net.

If this platform is meant for different programming technologies then I can say Microsoft technologies are capturing development industry. Earlier, Java was rocking because of some features were not present in others. Now, Microsoft has come with all lacking features with extras. It has come with many open source products also. And the main thing is it has good helping materials from Microsoft to other tech experts.

Java is now behind the .net (atleast I think). Some enterprises still have faith in Java but they look for readymade hands and as a Java fresher it is hard to get a job. Php and other open source are still trying to hold the market. But, .net has emerged as a leader in past 3-4 years. You can guess why people names very few though there are many more programming tracks technologies like java, .net  etc.

Corporate (MNC) have lot of platform requirements like Web, Mobile, Windows, Database etc.  If you are a fresher, you might need to gain experience for an easier entry to Corporate.  

I would recommend doing a Technology Track course to increase your chances for job.
