Who writes custom programs for IC chips

Thanks for your reply Nitin, I sort of have to go the cheapest route with this, the chips are around $4, as the Arduino $13 & up. I'm trying to build a prototype, that, if succsessful, will build more. I'm really not sure what the best method is for my project.

In the picture you can see 8 lines going out, those 8 lines are activated (on/off) in succession but with timing so tight that one turns on before the one before it turns off, and when line 8 is turned off, I need to switch the negative & positives around before the loop continues; I have no idea how to set that up, I've never writen code or used MPLab that's why I was looking for someone who knows how to do this, but I can't find anyone here in Australia. I'll have to use MPLab tutorials and give it a go myself; thanks again for your reply :)

If you don't need any processing power other than what you have mentioned, you may also look into Arduino. Notice the main difference.

Arduino is a MicroController based board whereas Raspberry Pi is a MicroProcessor based board.

There is no fancy stuff like OS on Arduino, all you do is write a code and burn it on the Arduino and it stays there and keeps executing in a loop till such time as you don't burn another one.

Thank you Tejas for your knowledge on this issue, I now have a starting point that I didn't have before. I checked out the price of the chips & programmers for this & both are fairly cheap, now I'll have to try to master MPLAB (asprin on standby).

For you requirement, you can use microcontroller, I recommend PIC16F877, you can go through its pin and port configuration to design your circuit.

 

For writing up code, you can use MPLAB which is C compiler for PIC microcontroller. For your requirment, there is no complex code required.
