Hello Sahil,

It can be a Misapprehension; I don't see much Hail for the WPF arena.

To support my statement, I would say:

1. HTML 5 was a major trend changer, JavaScript maturity & JQuery accelerated it
2. World of Apps made a huge opportunity to customers & Developers
3. Deferring to client side execution freeing up server cycles also recognizing speed

Silverlight is such a Technology with fading graphs.  I don't think just HTML 5 was a replacement for Silverlight; but JavaScript, JQuery powered the client-side processing with light foot spaces.

Windows Forms was replaced by WPF, although legacy applications exists.

The Power of WPF where DirectX rendering & XAML, are not meant to compete against Windows 8 Apps which could be termed as a new Trend Taker against WPF.  Apps provide more opportunity & applications to the developers & customers respectively.

I prefer the following paths:

1. If you are a WPF developer, continue there & Focus learning Windows 8 Apps a bit (90:10 approach)
2. If you are not a WPF developer, invest on something with wings (Windows 8 Apps, HTML5, JQuery)
