Writing to the Event Logger

How to override the security admin issue. I want the user to run whether they are a admin or not. Basically Ii have a standalone background thread that has a call back. If the callback errors out I don't won't to throw an error. I simply want catch,  save the error and write error to th event logger whether the user is an admin or not
