Some omeone on campus calls and says they have a new Mac. They've just pulled it out of the box and want to plug it into the campus network. What might they need to set to make this work?

By default newer Macs prompt the user for a bunch of network information when they first turn it on. The critical settings to make sure that an Ethernet-connected Macs works on the UO network are as follows:

Open the TCP/IP Control Panel. Make sure that Ethernet and DHCP are chosen.

Open the AppleTalk Control Panel and choose Ethernet and the AppleTalk zone that corresponds to the user's location.
