SchoolNet Inc., a software company founded to improve the world’s education systems by using data to increase academic achievement, is actively seeking an Applications Engineer who will be responsible for coding the technical solutions and implementations for a given software engineering project and verifying the integrity of the project during quality assurance. This hire must have a proven ability to be a project technical contributor, as well as know how to accurately scope a project to make concrete work estimates. Candidates must have a full understanding of the tools, platforms and software to develop world-class projects and have formal software design process (UML, RUP, etc.) and full development life cycle experience. This hire will report to the VP, Technology
Primary Responsibilities
• Develop database-driven applications for software development and data warehousing projects
• Work with technical staff through all phases of the project development lifecycle
• Contribute to technical proposals, technical specifications, and design documents
• Integrate technical modules to build a complete solution
• Make high-level project technical decisions in conjunction with other functional disciplines
Desired qualifications and background
• Minimum 5 years experience in Internet software development in addition to any other software experience
• BA/BS degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Expert-level expertise with ASP.NET(version 2.0 in particular), XML Web Services, and Windows Forms in a production environment
• Expert-level competency in C#
• Expert in relational database technologies especially MS SQL Server and Oracle with a background in database development and modeling
• Experience with large-scale applications in a team environment
• Broad experience with .NET Framework
• Experience with ADO.NET
• Java, C/C++, and COM+/DCOM are also considered valuable as well as Web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and XML
• Must be a self-starter who requires minimal supervision. Experienced in problem solving, and able to follow a methodical implementation process
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
