Job Description

Google Trust & Safety team is seeking an Engineering Analyst for AdSpam to join their dynamic team in Hyderabad. As part of this team, you will be responsible for identifying and addressing the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of Google’s products. Using your technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and user insights, you will protect users and partners from abuse across Google products such as Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced statistical methods to large complex data sets to analyze the impact of abuse on the Android ecosystem.
  • Perform fraud and spam investigations using various data sources, identify product vulnerabilities, and drive anti-abuse experiments to prevent abuse.
  • Work with engineers and stakeholders to improve workflows via process improvements, automation, and anti-abuse system creation.
  • Conduct complex fraud investigations using data, identify gaps in current defenses, explore/experiment with new signals, and develop solutions for scalable enforcement on non-compliant publisher inventory with a focus on Android.
  • Work with Product, Engineering, and Trust and Safety teams to prevent abuse by changing policies and closing product loopholes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in cyber security, data analysis, programming, and scripting.
  • Experience querying and analyzing datasets/data warehouses to pull out insights, metrics, and trends.
  • Experience with databases and querying (e.g., SQL, MySQL, MapReduce, Hadoop).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with classification systems, ranking systems, or similar.
  • Experience in data management, metrics analysis, experimental design, and automation.
  • Experience collecting, managing, and synthesizing large data sets and information from disparate sources, statistical modeling, data mining, and data analysis.
  • Product and policy knowledge, the ability to both understand and design training roadmaps, and the ability to communicate and persuade at multiple levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a quantitative mindset, with the ability to translate analytical insights into business strategies and actions.

They work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases with urgency. This team prides itself on promoting trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

The mission of the Trust and Safety Ad Traffic Quality team is to make the ads ecosystem trusted and defended against invalid traffic. They analyze events and create scalable methods to stop motivated fraudsters from causing harm. In this role, you will use tools to analyze datasets, dive deep into advanced data analysis techniques, collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, Sales, and Legal stakeholders, and protect advertiser dollars.
