As a Mainframes SDET, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of our applications. You will work closely with developers, business analysts, and other QA team members to design and implement comprehensive testing strategies. The ideal candidate should be proactive, detail-oriented, and possess strong technical skills to identify and troubleshoot issues at the earliest stages of the development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform end-to-end testing for mainframe applications ensuring maximum quality and minimal defects.
- Analyze system requirements and technical specifications to create detailed and effective test plans and test cases.
- Execute and automate test cases using tools and technologies including Java, Selenium, and custom frameworks for mainframe systems.
- Develop and execute complex SQL queries to validate business rules and data integrity on DB2 databases.
- Conduct different types of testing such as functional, regression, integration, white-box, black-box, and performance testing.
- Work with COBOL, JCL, and DB2 to validate the backend processing and ensure batch jobs are running smoothly.
- Validate and monitor MQ logs and API integrations for end-to-end functionality.
- Collaborate with development teams to understand new features, ensure clarity in requirements, and provide feedback on potential risks or quality concerns.
- Participate in daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives as part of the agile development process.
- Log, track, and manage defects throughout the testing lifecycle; contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in mainframe testing.
- Solid understanding and practical knowledge of COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
- Strong command over SQL with the ability to write complex queries and perform database validations.
- Experience in automating mainframe test cases, preferably using Java and Selenium or similar tools/frameworks.
- Good understanding of MQ, API testing, and message validation techniques.
- Ability to perform all levels of testing and strong understanding of QA methodologies and test lifecycle.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
