Coforge is looking for an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database management, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and high-availability solutions. The role involves working with Oracle databases (11g, 12c, 19c) and requires expertise in RMAN, ASM, and RAC, along with familiarity in PostgreSQL.
The role demands a proactive professional who can ensure the stability, security, and optimal performance of database environments while collaborating with development and IT teams. This position also requires on-call support, making it essential for the candidate to have strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to handle critical database issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Oracle Database Administration
- Install, configure, and manage Oracle databases (versions 11g, 12c, and 19c).
- Implement, manage, and support Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) to ensure high availability.
- Perform regular database backups, restores, and recovery strategies using RMAN.
- Conduct database patching and upgrades to maintain security and performance compliance.
- Administer and manage ASM (Automatic Storage Management) for efficient storage handling.
- Implement database security policies, including user access management, roles, and privileges.
Performance Tuning & Optimization
- Monitor and fine-tune performance for Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
- Analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks through indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.
- Utilize Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and pgAdmin for database monitoring and performance enhancements.
- Work closely with development teams to optimize SQL queries and enhance database efficiency.
High Availability & Disaster Recovery
- Configure Oracle Data Guard, RAC, and replication for PostgreSQL to ensure high availability and data protection.
- Develop and execute disaster recovery strategies, ensuring minimal downtime in case of failures.
- Implement backup, restore, and failover procedures to maintain business continuity.
Collaboration & Support
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for database-related incidents and issues.
- Assist in database migration and upgrade planning while ensuring smooth execution.
- Guide and support developers and IT teams on database best practices and optimization techniques.
- Work with stakeholders to define database policies and operational guidelines.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA in production environments.
- Strong expertise in SQL, PL/SQL, and scripting languages for database administration.
- In-depth knowledge of RMAN, ASM, Oracle RAC, and performance tuning methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with backup, restore, and recovery strategies.
- Strong understanding of database security, user access control, and compliance.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL replication and high availability strategies.
- Proficiency in Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and pgAdmin for database monitoring.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve performance and system issues efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- Exposure to cloud-based database platforms like Azure RDS.
- Experience with MySQL, SQL Server, and other relational databases.
- Knowledge of database automation tools to streamline administrative tasks.
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or PostgreSQL certification.
