Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Oracle Database Management & Support

  1. Installation, Upgrade & Migration. Perform installation, upgrades, and migrations of Oracle databases across different environments, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal downtime.
  2. Database Performance Tuning & Optimization. Continuously monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks to enhance efficiency.
  3. Backup & Recovery Management. Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies using RMAN (Recovery Manager) to ensure data integrity and disaster readiness.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery

  1. High Availability (HA) Solutions. Work extensively with HA concepts, Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters), and Data Guard to ensure 99.99% uptime and fault-tolerant database solutions.
  2. Disaster Recovery (DR) Planning & Implementation. Support disaster recovery activities, including failover testing, data replication, and restoration to minimize potential business disruptions.
  3. Clustered Environment Expertise. Handle clustered database environments with a focus on ensuring high availability and seamless data access.

Security, Compliance & Best Practices

  1. Data Security & Compliance. Implement security best practices, ensuring database environments comply with ITIL processes, security policies, and industry regulations.
  2. User Access Control & Auditing. Manage user roles, privileges, authentication policies, and conduct regular security audits to protect sensitive data.
  3. Database Patch Management. Ensure timely patching and security updates to maintain system integrity and minimize vulnerabilities.

Database Architecture, Design & Capacity Planning

  1. Database Architecture & Design. Assist in designing and implementing scalable, high-performance database architectures that meet business needs.
  2. Capacity Planning & Performance Monitoring. Forecast database storage, compute requirements, and resource utilization for efficient planning and provisioning.
  3. Database Troubleshooting & Diagnostics. Use Oracle diagnostic tools and scripts to analyze issues, resolve errors, and enhance database stability.

Cross-Platform Collaboration & Automation

  1. Unix & Windows Knowledge. Work on both Windows and Unix environments, troubleshooting OS-level dependencies related to Oracle databases.
  2. Automation & Scripting. Develop and implement automation scripts to improve database maintenance, monitoring, and administration tasks.
  3. Collaboration with Stakeholders. Work closely with development, infrastructure, and security teams to align database strategies with business objectives.

What You Bring to the Table – Required Skills & Qualifications

  1. Education. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  2. Experience. 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA managing enterprise-grade databases.

Oracle Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of Oracle database versions 11g, 12c, 19c and later.
  • Expertise in Oracle RAC, RMAN, Data Guard, and HA architecture.
  • Experience with Oracle database installation, migration, and upgrade processes.

Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting

  • Strong knowledge of SQL tuning, indexing strategies, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Ability to analyze AWR, ADDM, ASH reports to diagnose and resolve performance issues.

Disaster Recovery & Backup Management

  • Experience in designing and implementing reliable backup and recovery strategies.
  • Hands-on expertise in RMAN backup, cloning, and PITR (Point-In-Time Recovery).

Security & Compliance

  • Good understanding of ITIL processes, security controls, and database compliance standards.
  • Experience implementing database access controls, auditing, and encryption mechanisms.

Unix & Windows Administration

  • Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux & Windows OS, including shell scripting for automation.
  • Understanding of file system structures, permissions, and OS-level database dependencies.

Soft Skills & Collaboration

  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and handle high-pressure situations.
