Job Title. Senior Software Engineer - Azure Data Processing Unit (DPU) Networking
Responsibilities
Collaborate with stakeholders to determine user requirements for networking packet forwarding and control plane functions within various network endpoints in Azure data centers.
Drive identification of dependencies and develop design documents for a highly programmable and high-performance chip.
Create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to establish and improve performance, maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), guiding other engineers by developing and following the playbook, monitoring system health, and taking actions to restore services during incidents.
Proactively seek new knowledge, adapt to trends, and implement technical solutions to improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products.
Qualifications:
Required
Experience in software design and coding of Layer 2/3/4 ethernet/IP networking packet forwarding and control plane processing functions within host OS or a programmable NIC or network switches and routers.
Strong programming skills in C or C++.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline, AND 4+ years of software development engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
Preferred
- Experience in developing networking software stacks involving technologies such as TCP, UDP, RDMA, RoCEv2, and SDN.
- Experience in developing networking software on DPUs, programmable NICs, or other hardware offload architectures.
- Experience in developing technologies for reliable data transfer across networks with efficient fabric utilization and deterministic latency.
- CI/CD Experience: Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices for streamlined software development and deployment processes.
- Scripting for Developer Tools: Proficiency in scripting languages to build and enhance developer tools, automating repetitive tasks, and improving workflow efficiency.
