Duties:
This position serves as the highest level authority for Management Services in an IT capacity for agency wide background check systems for Background Check Central Unit (BCCU).
• Serve as management advisor and technical consultant to enhance and maintain on-going operations of all BCCU client/server applications
• Develop and implement standards and procedures for data, data modeling, and data architecture
• Analyze and resolve very complex technical issues that involve a multitude of critical business processes
• Participate in code and design reviews, ensuring adherence to standards and providing improvement recommendations
• Consultant to executive management in information systems development
• Provide guidance for business decisions from a technical perspective on such issues as performance, scalability, reliability, and security
• Work closely with the technical lead and project manager to ensure deliverables and milestones are met
• Assist in the building and migration of software components to multiple staging environments
• Create test environments and test plans for BCCU applications. Participate in system and user acceptance testing of all program components
• Create and maintain system documentation throughout the software development lifecyle
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) resource when issues, problems, or bugs occur
• Create time and cost estimates for software development projects
• Implement prototypes based on functional specifications
• Responsible for project status reporting to technical lead and/or project manager
• Support existing code base with defect fixes and new enhancements
• Participate in design sessions with business owner(s)
