Visa is seeking a Sr. Data Scientist to lead data science engagements with our partners and support end-to-end delivery. This position will be based in Visa’s Bangalore office, within the VCA Data Science team in Asia Pacific.
What a Sr. Data Scientist Does at Visa
- Project Management. Manage and deliver analytics projects from conception to completion with actionable insights and recommendations.
- Solution Design. Define detailed scope and methodology, design and create solutions, and execute on the framework using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Innovation. Seek opportunities to innovate by using VisaNet, non-traditional data, and new modeling techniques to meet clients' needs.
- Methodology Enhancement. Promote new methodologies and best practices in analytics to enhance existing techniques.
- Metric Development. Develop metrics and dashboards to quantify current states and monitor progress using consistent definitions.
- Advocacy. Act as a data science advocate, advising and coaching analytical teams, and sharing best practices and case studies.
- Collaboration. Work with cross-functional teams to build and automate reusable and scalable solutions.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience. 7+ years of experience and a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information science, mathematics, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Machine Learning. Hands-on experience developing machine learning solutions and delivering end-to-end data science projects. Familiar with data handling techniques and machine learning models.
- Big Data Technologies. Experience with big data technologies and data engineering tools is essential. Proficient in big data aggregation using Hive, Spark, SQL, R/Python, and related packages. Familiar with data engineering tools like Airflow and MLflow is a plus.
- Domain Experience. Experience in Credit Risk or Fraud Risk analytics and Marketing Analytics is a significant advantage.
- Visualization and BI Tools. Experience with visualization and BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy, or similar tools is a plus.
- Problem-Solving. Outstanding problem-solving skills with a creative and strategic mindset.
- Project Management. Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple analytic projects with diverse stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Management. Strong internal team and external client stakeholder management skills, with a collaborative and flexible style.
- Industry Experience. Experience in the banking, payment, or e-commerce industry is preferred.

Projects You Will Be a Part Of
You will collaborate with various Visa teams, including the Consumer Solution team, Open Data Solution, and Merchant team, to solve strategic business problems.
- Benefit Measurement. Evaluate if a campaign promotion generates a positive ROI for participating merchants and Visa. Identify test and control groups to optimize offerings.
- Loyalty Improvement. Work with stakeholders to enhance the existing loyalty platform using AI models.
- Buy-Now-Pay-Later Analysis. Identify typical BNPL adopters and their likelihood to take installment offers on transactions.
- Open Data Support. Support stakeholders in joint development projects with third parties.
