Job Description

As a Senior GCP Cloud Administrator, you will be at the forefront of Forbes Advisor’s cloud infrastructure strategy. This hands-on role demands deep experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), strong problem-solving skills, and a proactive mindset for automation, cost optimization, and system reliability. You’ll collaborate across data engineering, platform engineering, and SRE teams to ensure robust and scalable cloud operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and optimize GCP Identity and Access Management (IAM), implementing least-privilege principles.
  • Manage and fine-tune BigQuery environments, including slot reservations, query performance, and cost control (FinOps practices).
  • Work closely with SRE, Data Engineering, and Cloud Platform teams to streamline GCP data operations.
  • Build automations and monitoring pipelines for data services on GCP.
  • Provision, maintain, and decommission GCP accounts and resources as needed for project life cycles.
  • Manage multiple GCP subscriptions, ensuring security, performance, and scalability.
  • Assist in designing cloud architecture tailored for application and data workloads.
  • Keep documentation current and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay updated with the latest in GCP service offerings, tools, and announcements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in GCP cloud administration and operations.
  • GCP certification - Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect (mandatory).
  • Proven expertise in Identity and Access Management (IAM), Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), BigQuery administration and optimization.
  • Solid understanding of Kubernetes and containerization using Docker.
  • Experience supporting and advising teams on GCP best practices.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work on a shift basis when required.
  • Fast learner with a proactive, can-do attitude and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Bonus Skills (Good to Have)

  • Infrastructure as Code with Terraform for GCP
  • Experience with data orchestration and processing tools like Cloud Composer, Dataproc, and Dataflow
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud environments (multi-cloud exposure)
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools such as New Relic
  • Background in data pipeline development and support
